My interest and early artistic ability lead me into a career in the architectural profession and this allowed me to express and develop my technical drawing and design skills and recognise the value of observation, which is fundamental to all projects I undertake be they architectural or artistic.
In recent years I have found that my painting hobby has progressed and developed rapidly for many reasons. The therapeutic benefits of creating hand drawn architectural plans has been significantly eclipsed by the technological developments which now demand the use of computer aided design formats.
I favour watercolour because it is such an exciting and challenging medium to work with. Many skills are required for preparing washes, blending, colour mixing and applying the final touches to create the light, colour and textures that I require. As I have developed these skills and grown in confidence, friends and family have encouraged me to dedicate more time to this pleasurable hobby and try sharing it with the wider world.
