Jane has recently relocated from the East Midlands and now she lives by the sea. She paints mosts days either outside on location or in her studio in Fife, Scotland working from sketchbooks, photographs and memory; using a range of media on gesso wooden panels, canvas and paper.
She really enjoys sketching on location and she travels widely throughout the UK and beyond. Jane has a fascination with remote islands and she is particularly drawn to the Scottish Outer Hebrides, a special place she discovered in the 1990s and she returns to as often as she can.
The paintings are informed by her personal experience of walking in the landscape. Sketchbook drawings and photographs play a useful part in developing new work.
The sense of being out in big open places lie at the heart of what Jane is expressing in paint.
