Kittiwakes, July
A strictly coastal gull, the Kittiwake can mostly be seen during the Summer months flying past offshore or gathering at roosts as in this scene on the East coast of Scotland close to Lucy’s home near Edinburgh. While the backgrounds of the painting are loose and vibrant, the subject matter is anatomically accurate and detailed, which makes this artwork truly uplifting. A must for any collector of high value art. Painted onto high quality Bockingford watercolour paper (535gsm) and framed in natural oak moulding with off-white, acid free mountboard.

Artist statement
Born and raised just outside West Calder I was always fascinated by the flora and fauna of the surrounding countryside and farmland. I would spend hours exploring and observing everything from frog spawn to frost patterns and developed a deep interest in nature. This love of wildlife has always stayed with me and now forms the basis of almost all my artwork. The majority of my work depicts native British wildlife or farm animals, species that we are surrounded by everyday, but no matter how often I see them I still always see something new, some fresh inspiration, in them.
